Screen Recorder
Record your screen, a window or a browser tab, with its sound and your microphone. Pause, resume and download the video: no install, no watermark, no upload.
Checking what this browser allows…
How is this calculated?
The browser’s screen capture (getDisplayMedia) feeds its MediaRecorder, at about 6 Mbit/s so text stays sharp. Two sound sources are mixed with the Web Audio API.Runs in your browser — nothing you enter leaves this device.
About this tool
What it does
Screen Recorder records what is on your screen as a video, in the browser, with nothing to install, no account, no watermark and no time limit. Press Start recording and the browser asks what to share: the whole screen, one window, or one browser tab. Recording starts as soon as you choose, and a small preview shows what is being captured. The sound of what you share can go in too — in Chrome and Edge, a browser tab’s sound (tick “Share tab audio”) and, on Windows, the whole system’s — and so can your microphone, for a walkthrough or a bug report with your voice; when both are on they are mixed into one sound track. Pause and resume as you go. When you press Stop and keep, or the browser’s own Stop sharing button, the video is added to the list below to watch, download or delete. The recording is made and kept in this tab only and never uploaded, and the page asks before you close it with recordings you have not downloaded. Chrome, Edge and Firefox save WebM video (VP9 or VP8); Safari saves MP4. A WebM recording has its length written in, so players can show it and seek.
How to use it
- Choose whether to record the shared sound and your microphone, and the frame rate.
- Press Start recording and pick a screen, window or tab.
- Pause and Resume as needed; press Stop and keep when done.
- Watch the recording below and Download it.
Limits and your data
- Phones and tablets do not let web pages record the screen; use the phone’s own screen recorder.
- System sound (all apps) can be shared only in Chrome or Edge on Windows; elsewhere, only a browser tab’s sound or none.
- Recordings are held in memory: an hour at 1080p is about 2.7 GB, so record long sessions in parts.
- Some players cannot open WebM; VLC and every browser can, and video editors import it or convert it.
- Nothing is uploaded. The recording stays in this browser tab until you download it; closing the tab deletes it. The browser shows that you are sharing for as long as you record.
Questions
Is there a time limit or watermark?
No. The limit is your device’s memory, and nothing is added to the video.
Why is there no sound in my recording?
Sound is only shared if the browser allows it for what you chose: tick “Share tab audio” when sharing a tab in Chrome or Edge. Turn on “Record my microphone” for your voice.
How do I get an MP4?
Safari records MP4 directly. From Chrome, Edge or Firefox you get WebM, which most editors and YouTube accept; a converter can turn it into MP4.
Can it record a single window without showing my desktop?
Yes: choose Window or Tab in the share dialog and only that is recorded.
