Line Chart Maker
Make a line chart from pasted data: up to 8 lines, labelled at their ends, gaps where values are missing, tooltips and a table view. Download SVG, PNG or CSV.
Line chart of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai over 6 points from 2019 to 2024. Delhi goes from 24.1 to 31.2. Use the arrow keys to read each point, or switch to the table.

Copy cells from a spreadsheet, or type CSV: the x values (dates, months, years) in the first column, in order, and one column of numbers for each line (up to 8). A first row of headings names the lines. An empty cell leaves a gap.
How is this calculated?
Points are spaced evenly in the order given; each line joins its own points; the vertical axis runs from a round number below the lowest value to one above the highest.Runs in your browser — nothing you enter leaves this device.
About this tool
What it does
Line Chart Maker draws how values change across an order — months, years, days, test numbers — from data you paste. Put the x values in the first column, in order, and one column of numbers for each line, up to eight, with a heading row to name them. Each line is drawn 2 pixels thick with its points marked, and when there are two to four lines each is named at its end as well as in the legend, so you never have to match colours by eye. A missing value leaves a gap in the line rather than joining across it as if the value were known. The value axis fits the data, since a line chart is about change rather than size; tick “Start the axis at zero” when the size matters. Hover, or tab to the chart and use the arrow keys, to see every line’s value at a point, or switch to the table. Download it as SVG or PNG, or the data as CSV. The colours stay distinguishable for colour-blind readers in light and dark themes.
How to use it
- Paste the table: x values first, then one column per line.
- Give the chart a title.
- Choose whether the axis starts at zero and whether every point is marked.
- Read values with the pointer or the arrow keys, then download.
Limits and your data
- Points are spaced evenly: for dates with uneven gaps, the spacing will not reflect time exactly.
- One axis for every line: series in different units belong in separate charts.
- Up to 8 lines and 1,000 points.
- The chart is drawn in your browser. Your data is not uploaded or kept.
Questions
When should I use a line chart instead of a bar chart?
Lines for change over a continuous order such as time; bars to compare separate categories.
Why does my line have a gap?
A value is missing there. The gap is honest: joining across it would invent the missing value.
Why does the axis not start at zero?
Line charts show change, so the axis fits the data. Tick “Start the axis at zero” to show size as well.
Can I plot two different measures?
Only if they share a unit. Two measures with different scales mislead on one axis; make two charts.
