Extract PDF Pages
Save chosen pages of a PDF as a new PDF, or each page as its own file, picked by clicking or by page numbers.
PDF Workspace
Add PDFs to start
Drop PDFs or images here, or choose them. Merge, split, reorder, rotate, edit, sign, convert or compress — as many steps as you like, with undo — and download one checked file.
PDFs up to 300 MB each, 5,000 pages in all; JPG, PNG and other images become pages. Password-protected PDFs ask for their password.
Your files are read and written in this browser. They are not uploaded to ToolsDev or anyone else.
Runs in your browser — nothing you enter leaves this device.
About this tool
What it does
Extract PDF Pages saves the pages you choose as a new PDF and leaves the rest. Click the pages you want, or type their numbers — 1-3, 7, 10- — and download them as one file, or each page as its own PDF in a ZIP. The pages go out in the order you list them, so extracting is also a quick way to make a short version of a long document. The workspace keeps every page, so you can extract a different set straight after.
How to use it
- Choose a PDF, or drop it on the page.
- Select the pages you want in the grid and press Use selection, or type the page numbers.
- Choose One PDF, or A PDF per page for separate files in a ZIP.
- Press Download, check the summary and save the file.
Limits and your data
- Pages are taken in the order they are written. Writing 5, 1 puts page 5 first. A page written twice is included once.
- Files up to 300 MB each, 1 GB and 5,000 pages in all. A password-protected PDF asks for its password when added.
- Pages are copied as they are, which keeps their quality, but what belongs to the whole document rather than to a page is not carried over: bookmarks, the document outline, file attachments and accessibility tags. Links between pages may stop working. The title of the first file is kept.
- Fillable form fields keep their appearance but may no longer be fillable, and any digital signature in the original is no longer valid in the new file — a signature covers the exact file that was signed.
- Your PDFs are read and written in this browser tab. They are not uploaded to ToolsDev or anyone else, and nothing is saved: closing the tab ends the session, so download what you want to keep (the page asks before you leave with work not downloaded). The page downloads its own code, and pdf.js's fonts and image decoders when a page needs them, from toolsdev.in — none of those requests carries your document.
Questions
How is this different from Split?
Split cuts the whole document into parts that together hold every page. Extract makes one file from the pages you pick and ignores the rest.
Can I extract pages from several PDFs into one?
Yes. Add all the files, select the pages you want from any of them, and extract. Page numbers count across the whole workspace, in the order shown.
Are the extracted pages the same quality?
Yes. Each page is copied with its own text, fonts and images, unchanged. Text that could be selected can still be selected.
Is the original file changed?
No. The original on your device is never changed; the workspace writes a new file, and the pages you did not extract stay in the workspace.
Why is the extracted file sometimes nearly as big as the original?
Pages often share fonts and images with the rest of the document. The extracted file carries everything its pages use, so a few pages that use a large embedded font still need that font.
