Payment details
How is this calculated?
upi://pay?pa=<UPI ID>&pn=<name>&am=<amount>&cu=INR&tn=<note> (NPCI UPI Linking Specification). The amount is written in rupees with two decimals, from the digits you type, never through floating-point arithmetic.Runs in your browser — nothing you enter leaves this device.
About this tool
What it does
UPI QR Code Generator makes the kind of payment QR code shops display at the counter. Enter your UPI ID (VPA) and the name to show, and optionally a fixed amount and a note such as an invoice number, and a QR code appears that GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and every other UPI app can scan to pay you. Without an amount, the payer types it — the right choice for a counter or a donation box; with one, the app fills it in — useful on an invoice or for a fixed fee. The code holds a standard upi://pay link, which is shown in full, and before you can download it the page reads the code back with a decoder and confirms it holds exactly that link. Download a PNG to share or an SVG to print large and sharp on a standee or sticker.
How to use it
- Type your UPI ID exactly as your UPI app shows it, for example yourname@okaxis.
- Type the name to show. The payer’s app also shows the name your bank has registered.
- Add an amount and a note if you want them filled in.
- Check the summary and the read-back tick, then download the PNG or SVG.
Limits and your data
- This is a personal or small-business payment code. Merchant codes from a bank or payment company carry extra fields (a merchant code and signature) that only they can issue, and some apps limit how much can be paid to a personal UPI ID.
- Test the code by paying yourself a small amount from another UPI app before printing it.
- Amounts are limited to two decimal places and seven digits of rupees; your bank’s and app’s own limits per payment still apply.
- A wrong UPI ID makes a code that pays someone else or no one. The page checks its form, not that it exists.
- Notes over 50 characters are refused because some apps cut them off.
- The code is made in your browser. Your UPI ID, name and amounts are not sent to us or saved.
Questions
Can I make a UPI QR code without a merchant account?
Yes. Any UPI ID can receive payments through a QR code holding a upi://pay link, which is what this page makes. Merchant accounts add things like settlement reports and higher limits.
Should I put the amount in the QR code?
Leave it out for a shop counter, so customers type what they owe. Put it in for a fixed price or an invoice, so the payer cannot type it wrong.
Is it safe to share my UPI QR code?
Yes. It can only be used to pay you; it holds no PIN or bank details. Never share your UPI PIN, and remember you never need to enter it to receive money.
Why does the payer see a different name?
UPI apps show the account holder’s name registered with the bank before payment, so the name you type here only appears until the app looks it up.
