About this tool

What it does

Business Card Maker sets your name, job title, company, tagline, phones, email, website and address on a visiting card of the usual size, 3.5 × 2 inches (88.9 × 50.8 mm) — the size Indian printers cut and card holders take. The preview is a whole sheet: ten cards on A4 or eight on Letter, laid out in real millimetres inside the print margins, each with a dashed cut line, so what you print is the size you see described. Choose a layout — left aligned, centred, or with a colour band down the edge — one of six templates for the type, and one of eight colours. Print the sheet at home on thick paper (250–300 gsm card works in most inkjet printers), or save it as a PDF and take it to a print shop. The page checks for the mistakes that waste a print run: an email without its domain, a phone number with too few digits, or so many lines that the text would be tiny.

How to use it
  1. Type your name and title, company and the contact details you want on the card.
  2. Choose a layout, a template and a colour; the sheet updates as you go.
  3. Fix anything listed above the preview.
  4. Print or save as PDF. Print at 100% (actual size) — not “fit to page” — so the cards stay 3.5 × 2 inches.
  5. Cut along the dashed lines with a ruler and a sharp blade, or a paper trimmer.
Limits and your data
  • One side only: there is no back of the card. For a two-sided card, print the back on the reverse yourself.
  • There is no logo or photo upload. The QR Code Generator makes a QR code for your contact details or website, as a separate image.
  • Cards are cut on the printed lines, with no bleed: a colour band is kept inside the cut line so a slightly uneven cut does not show white.
  • Everything stays in this browser; nothing is uploaded. Drafts are kept only when you press Save draft, on this device, and are in Export my data.

Questions

What is the standard visiting card size in India?

3.5 × 2 inches (88.9 × 50.8 mm) is the most common size, and the one used here. European cards are often 85 × 55 mm.

Why did my cards print smaller?

The print dialog was set to “fit to page” or a scale below 100%. Choose “actual size” or 100% scale and print again.

What paper should I use?

Card stock of 250–300 gsm for a firm card; check your printer’s manual for the heaviest paper it takes. A print shop can use heavier board.

What should a business card include?

Your name, what you do, your company, and one or two ways to reach you. Fewer lines in a larger size read better than everything in small type.
