Weight Converter changes a mass from one unit to another — kilograms to pounds, grams to ounces, stones to kilograms — and lists it in every other unit at once. It covers milligrams, grams, kilograms, tonnes, quintals, ounces, pounds, stones and the tola, the traditional Indian unit still used for gold and silver. The pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms by the international agreement of 1959, the ounce is a sixteenth of that, the stone fourteen pounds, and the tola is 11.6638038 grams, as fixed in India when the country moved to metric weights. Conversions use decimal arithmetic, so a pound comes out as exactly 16 ounces rather than a long run of nines. Common conversions are a button press away, and the swap button reverses the direction.

• Strictly these are units of mass. A scale reads mass assuming normal gravity, which is what everyday “weight” means.
• The ounce here is the avoirdupois ounce used for food and parcels. Gold and silver are often priced per troy ounce, which is 31.1034768 g — not in this list.
• The US short ton (2,000 lb) and the UK long ton (2,240 lb) are not included; tonne here means the metric tonne.
• Old Indian units other than the tola (seer, maund) varied by region and are not included.
