This tool does the two things people need when working across countries. It converts a time from one city to several others — 3 pm in India to London, New York and Singapore — showing the local time, the date if it has moved to the next or previous day, and each place’s offset from UTC on that date. Below that, it lays out every hour of the day side by side for all the cities and marks the hours when everyone is inside their working day, so finding a meeting slot takes a glance instead of arithmetic.

1. Set the time and date, and the city that time is in. It starts on India time.
2. Read the converted times on the right. Remove a city with its ×, or add one below — up to five besides your own.
3. Scroll down to “Find a meeting time”. Shaded hours are inside everyone’s working day; the line above the grid lists them in each city’s time.
4. Change the working-day start and end if your team keeps different hours.
5. Copy the link to send the same cities and time to someone else.

• Daylight saving is applied for the date you choose, using your browser’s time-zone database, which updates with the browser. A country that changes its rules at short notice may be wrong until then.
• On the night clocks go forward, some times do not exist; on the night they go back, some happen twice. The tool says which, and uses the time just after the jump or the first of the two.
• Abbreviations are read as places: EST as New York time and PST as San Francisco time, including in summer, which is what most people mean. IST is India Standard Time.
• The meeting grid uses whole hours starting on the hour in your city. A city with a half-hour offset, such as India or Nepal, shows its hours at :30 or :45.
• Everything is worked out in your browser from the time-zone data your browser already has. The cities and time you pick are kept in the page address for sharing and are not sent anywhere.

It depends on the US city and the time of year. New York is 9 hours 30 minutes behind India while US daylight saving is on (March to November) and 10 hours 30 minutes behind in winter. San Francisco is three hours further behind.
