1 min = 60 s; 1 h = 3,600 s; 1 day = 86,400 s; 1 week = 604,800 s; 1 year (365 days) = 31,536,000 s; average year = 365.2425 days = 31,556,952 s; average month = 30.436875 days = 2,629,746 s.Runs in your browser — nothing you enter leaves this device.
About this tool
What it does
Time Converter changes a length of time between nanoseconds, microseconds, milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years, and shows the same amount in every other unit at once. It is for the everyday sums that are easy to get wrong in your head: how many hours 90 minutes is (1.5, not 1.30), how many seconds are in a day, how many days are in six weeks, or what 2,500 milliseconds means. Months and years are not fixed lengths — a month has 28 to 31 days and a year 365 or 366 — so the converter says which one it uses: a 365-day year, the calendar’s average year of 365.2425 days, and an average month of a twelfth of that, 30.436875 days. Pick the one that matches your question; for the time between two real dates, use a date calculator instead, which counts the actual months.
How to use it
- Type the amount of time.
- Choose its unit and the one you want, or press a common conversion.
- Read the answer, and every other unit in the table below it.
Limits and your data
- A day is taken as exactly 86,400 seconds. The leap seconds occasionally added to clock time are not counted.
- A “month” here is an average, not a calendar month: 3 months is 91.31 days, while 1 January to 1 April is 90 days (91 in a leap year).
- Decimal hours are not hours and minutes: 1.5 hours is 1 hour 30 minutes, and 0.1 hour is 6 minutes.
- Conversions happen in your browser; nothing is sent.
Questions
How many seconds are in a day?
86,400: 24 hours × 60 minutes × 60 seconds. A week is 604,800 seconds.
How do I turn minutes into hours?
Divide by 60. 90 minutes is 1.5 hours; 45 minutes is 0.75 hour. To write it as hours and minutes, keep the whole hours and multiply the decimal part by 60: 1.5 hours = 1 hour and 0.5 × 60 = 30 minutes.
How many hours are in a year?
8,760 in a 365-day year, 8,784 in a leap year, and about 8,765.8 on average over the calendar’s 400-year cycle.
How many days are in a month?
Between 28 and 31. On average a month is 30.436875 days, which is what this converter uses for “month”. Payroll and interest rules often use 30 days instead — check which your document means.
How many milliseconds are in a second?
1,000. A microsecond is a thousandth of a millisecond, and a nanosecond a thousandth of a microsecond.
