Date Difference Calculator

This calculator counts the time between two dates: the number of days, the same span in weeks, the calendar breakdown in years, months and days, and how many of the days are weekdays. You can count the end date as well, as a leave application or a hotel booking does, or leave it out, as a duration or an age is counted.

1. Pick a start date. It is today until you change it.
2. Pick an end date. If it is earlier than the start, the dates are swapped and the page says so.
3. Tick “Count the end date too” if both days should count, for example for leave.
4. Read the days, weeks, the years-months-days breakdown and the number of weekdays.

• Weekdays leave out Saturdays and Sundays only. Public and bank holidays vary by state and are not subtracted; the holidays page lists them.
• Dates are calendar days in the Gregorian calendar. Times of day and time zones are not considered.
• The dates are counted in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. They appear in the page address, so a link reopens the same two dates.

It depends on the question. From 1 January to 2 January is one day as a duration, but two days of leave if you are away on both. Tick the box when both dates count.

Every date is a real calendar date, so 29 February is counted in leap years and does not exist in others. From 1 January 2028 to 1 January 2029 is 366 days.

Adding one month to 31 January lands on the last day of February, the way calendars and most software count it. From there to 1 March is one more day.

Set the start date, then move the end date until the day count shows the number you need. Tick the end-date box first if the last day should count.
